چکیده

Background/PurposeThis study determines and compares the geometric setup errors between stereoscopic x-ray kilo-voltage cone beam CT (CBCT) in phantom tests on a linear accelerator (linac) for image-guided (IG) stereotactic radiotherapy of intracranial tumors. Additionally, dose-volume metrics target volumes CBCT were evaluated.Materials/MethodsA Winston-Lutz- an anthropomorphic used. The mean deviation root square error (RMSE) compared. Dose-volume planning volume (PTV) gross (GTV) calculated.ResultsThe RMSEs with Winston-Lutz-Phantom 0.3 mm, 1.1 mm 0.1 0,1 < translational dimensions (right-left, anterior-posterior superior-inferior). 0.2 x-ray. effects GTV within 1 % all considered dose values. PTV 5 values.ConclusionBoth IG systems provide high accuracy patient positioning submillimeter range. exposed slightly higher than CBCT. comparison other studies similar purpose emphasizes importance individual installation quality assurance.

Dosimetric effects of positioning shifts using 6D‐frameless stereotactic Brainlab system in hypofractionated intracranial radiotherapy

Dosimetric consequences of positional shifts were studied using frameless Brainlab ExacTrac X-ray system for hypofractionated (3 or 5 fractions) intracranial stereo-tactic radiotherapy (SRT). SRT treatments of 17 patients with metastatic intracranial tumors using the stereotactic system were retrospectively investigated. The treatments were simulated in a treatment planning system by modifying ...

Comparative dosimetric evaluation of three-dimensional conformal and stereotactic radiotherapy for treatment of intracranial tumors.

AIMS To evaluate the dosimetric profile among three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy (3D-CRT) and stereotactic radiotherapy (SRT) for the treatment of intracranial tumors. MATERIALS AND METHODS Seventeen patients with intra cranial tumors of benign nature or low malignant potential were enrolled and planned for SRT as well as 3D-CRT. Dosimetric comparison between these two plans was done co...

Radiotherapy techniques for intracranial tumours

ABSTRACTIntracranial tumours often require radiotherapeutic approaches that differ from other sites. Their specific requirements merit a specialized discussion. A brief review of radiotherapy techniques to treat intracranial tumours is presented with emphasis on the author’s own experience and work, where appropriate. A clinical introduction is presented first followed by a description of bot...

Clinical Positioning Accuracy for Multisession Stereotactic Radiotherapy With the Gamma Knife Perfexion

Multisession stereotactic radiation therapy is increasingly being seen as a preferred option for intracranial diseases in close proximity to critical structures and for larger target volumes. The objective of this study is to investigate the reproducibility of the Extend system from Elekta. A retrospective review was conducted for all patients treated with multisession Gamma Knife between July ...

Fractionated stereotactic radiotherapy for skull base tumors: analysis of treatment accuracy using a stereotactic mask fixation system

BACKGROUND To assess the accuracy of fractionated stereotactic radiotherapy (FSRT) using a stereotactic mask fixation system. PATIENTS AND METHODS Sixteen patients treated with FSRT were involved in the study. A commercial stereotactic mask fixation system (BrainLAB AG) was used for patient immobilization. Serial CT scans obtained before and during FSRT were used to assess the accuracy of pat...
